Father John Fell --

Father Antonio Alvarez --

Father Benet Caffrey -- Father Benet Caffrey was born in Newark and baptized William Edward Caffrey, Jr. He attended Our Lady of Good Counsel School in North Newark and graduated from St. Benedict’s Prep conducted by the Benedictines of St. Mary’s Abbey.  Upon graduation, while a postulant for the community of St. Mary’s Abbey, he attended St. Vincent College in Latrobe, PA.   He entered the novitiate at St. Benedict’s Abbey in Atchison, Kansas, and took first monastic vows in 1952.  After earning a B.A. at St. Vincent, he completed theological studies at St. Mary’s Abbey in Morristown and was ordained at St. Joseph’s Cathedral in Paterson in 1958.  The following year, Fr. Benet attended the School of Library Service at Columbia University, earning an M.S. He was then named Librarian at St. Benedict’s Prep in Newark, and was assigned to the same position at Delbarton School in Morristown from 1961 to 1983.  Following a sabbatical year in Spain, he has been teaching Spanish at Delbarton, retiring from the classroom, however, in the spring of 2008. For many years Fr. Benet also coached Delbarton tennis teams at various levels and maintains a keen interest in the sport at Delbarton.  In 2007, he became the Abbey and School Archivist.  Over the years, Fr. Benet has been a weekend assistant at the following parishes: St. Benedict’s in Hazlet, St. Mary’s in Wharton, OLPH, St. Bernard in Bridgewater, St. Elizabeth in Far Hills, then returning to OLPH. 

Deacon Joel Livingston -- Deacon Joel Livingston, the son of Joel and Pauline Livingston, was born and raised in New York City. He was baptized at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, and received First Communion and Confirmation at Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Church in Upper Manhattan. After completing studies at the High School of Music and Art, he attended the University of Notre Dame where he received a B.S. in Science and a PhD. in Chemistry. He met and married his wife, Carol, at the University of Michigan. He and Carol have four children and nine grandchildren and are awaiting another grandchild at this writing.  His career as a chemist and research manager with Exxon Chemical spanned three continents and thirty two years.  He was ordained to the Diaconate by Bishop Edward Hughes in 1994 and was assigned to Our Lady of Perpetual Help where he has been a parishioner since 1986. He has served the Diocese as Director of Formation for Permanent Deacons and Director of the Office of the Permanent Diaconate. His current diocesan appointment is the Chair of the Ecumenical and Interfaith Initiatives Commission.
